ABC’s The View has been on the air for 18 years, and like all good things, it too has started losing its appeal with the more recent season. Several departures and changes operated by the producers in the hope that they might boost ratings took their toll.

Right now, The View has one foot in the grave, and producers are in agreement that something drastic needs to happen to boost ratings and keep it on the air for more seasons. Apparently, their idea for that something drastic is to bring Joy Behar back and have Monica Lewinsky join the panel.

The idea came from Barbara Walters, Radar Online reports, citing sources familiar with the situation. She is positive this move will finally have the desired effect, and breathe new life into the show, which is now short of several co-hosts (Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy and Rosie O’Donnell).

Negotiations with Behar and Lewinsky are underway, but producers fear that the former’s return would translate into their admitting they were wrong in letting her go in 2013. At the same time, they have doubts that the latter is able to carry a show.

Lewinsky re-emerged into the spotlight earlier this year, when she gave a TED talk on cyber-bullying, which was received with positive reviews. According to the report, reaction to this appearance was used to gauge the interest in Lewinsky as a public figure - but The View producers aren’t entirely convinced yet.

So what do you think? Would you tune in for the show if these two were on the panel? Let me know in the comments section.
