Monica Lewinsky says former President Bill Clinton lied under oath about their relationship

It was the biggest scandal of 1998, when former President Bill Clinton was impeached but not thrown out of office following allegations of improper conduct. Monica Lewinsky was a key element in the scandal and she’s now saying that Clinton lied under oath about their relationship in an upcoming book by Ken Gromley, the Examiner informs.

“The Death of American Virtue” is due out in February 2010 and aims to cast a glance into Clinton’s personal life: to be more specific, into the sordid affairs that he maintained at the time with some members on his staff. As it’s common knowledge, Clinton firmly denied allegations of an extra-marital affair, uttering the now-infamous phrase “I did not have relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” He stated the same under oath and he lied, Lewinsky is now saying on the record for Gromley’s book.

“‘The Death of American Virtue’ by Ken Gromley, which will be available from Random House February 16, 2010, slips inside some of the greatest scandals of Clinton's presidential career. The book is composed of Gormley’s intimate research, containing information pieced together after dozens of interviews, including a candid interview with Monical Lewinsky in which Lewinsky was quoted: ‘There was no leeway on the veracity of his statements because they asked him detailed and specific questions to which he answered untruthfully’,” Examiner writes of the upcoming tell-all.

And Lewinsky is not where the book stops with the revelations either. “Gormley also claims that Clinton had extra-marital affairs with Susan MacDougal, who did prison time for her participation in the Whitewater scandal. MacDougal, who also interviewed with Gormley for the book, continues to deny the affair, but the evidence continues to stack up against her,” the aforementioned media outlet explains.

Gromley insists that his experience as a law professor has allowed him to be patient in comprising the data that lay at the foundation of “The Death of American Virtue.” Because of this and given his sincere attempt at uncovering the truth behind the sordid affair, he says the book will be a “definitive, neutral historical account.”
