A couple of days ago, rumors started making the rounds that Vincent Cassell and Monica Bellucci, one of the most good looking, stylish and time-enduring couples in showbiz, had called it quits quietly. His rep has since confirmed the separation.

As these things go, the breakup was heralded by countless rumors about an open marriage and, occasionally, a cheating rumor.

In April this year, as the Daily Mail points out, Monica was saying in an interview that marriage was difficult because it could work today and completely go off the rails in a year.

Just days later, Cassell explained that he believed the key to staying married for 14 years was not caring about what other people thought. He also said that he and his wife were “very different animals.”

Just recently, tabs ran stories that he had been spending a lot of time in Brazil on his own, even though he had no work commitment there.

Other reports claimed that Monica had also joined him for a while, but then left at one point, furious, to return home. Presumably, this was when she had given up on their marriage.

We might never know if this is exactly how things went down between them, but one thing is certain: after almost 18 years together and 14 years as husband and wife, Vincent and Monica are done.

“Both actors said they had split by ‘mutual agreement’ following 14 years of marriage which produced two daughters, seven-year-old Deva, and three-year-old Leonie,” the Daily Mail writes.

“Vincent Cassel confirms that he has agreed to separate from his wife Monica Bellucci,” a rep for Cassell states.

The two met in 2006 while working together on “l’Appartement.” They were married in a private ceremony in France 3 years later.

For years, they have been plagued by reports of having an open marriage.
