GE works in partnership with Newcom Llc Mongolia, one of the most important players in the energy field in Mongolia, to open the gates of the first wind farm in the country. The project is worth $100 million and will be completed in 2012.

The location of the future wind power plant is 70 kilometers southeast of Ulaanbaatar, the state's capital. Officials behind this program aim to provide 50 MW of clean, safe power to the Mongolian citizens, according to Green Energy News.

This strategy comes as an affective response to the nations' increased demand for energy provided by renewables. At this point in time, the government is supporting the National Renewable Energy Program that takes care of the country's need to expand the potential of the present 800 megawatts (MW) of alternative energy.

Besides the fact that Mongolia is the worlds' biggest source of copper and coal, it also has all the natural conditions that favor the development of wind power industry. Furthermore, the country has revealed the most spectacular economical growth of approximately 17.3 percent this year, according to representatives from the World Bank.

All in all, it has all the elements needed to support the birth and implementation of large wind farms, significantly important concepts in curing the fossil fuel dependency and decreasing the amount of greenhouse gas that pollutes the atmosphere.

Mongolia's target is directly proportional with its impressive economical evolution. While the overall energy demand is expected to double until 2015, the companies behind the newly-designed facility aim to provide 168 million kwh of safe, renewable energy to the entire national grid.

At the same time, Salkhit Wind Farm will cut off 185,000 tons of emissions and conserve 1.6 million tons of water every year. The plants' success is almost certain, thanks to GE's contribution, a company that managed to offer 17,000 wind turbines to several nations all across the Globe.
