A 32-year-old woman from Blythe Bridge, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire must now spend 18 weeks in prison following her decision to use a plastic bag to suffocate the family dog, Milo.

Apparently, Tracy Barker, who relies on benefits to support her family, no longer had any money to feed the dog. Because of this, she decided to take matters into her own hands and killed it.

The dog was later found by local RSPCA inspectors inside a wheelie bin outside Tracy Barker's home, Daily Mail reports.

Interestingly enough, the people who found the animal's corpse say that this unlucky German Shepherd was pretty much emaciated, which basically means that it must have endured hunger for several weeks in a row.

“The dog would have suffered physical feelings of hunger, lethargy along with being psychologically disturbed,” prosecutor Kevin Worthington told the court.

Presently, Tracy Barker claims that she deeply regrets her actions.
