Despite the fact that the development team at 22 Cans is still young, its leader, Peter Molyneux, believes that it will be able to launch its first title, called 22 Experiments, in about six weeks, which probably means that gamers will get access to it at some point during July.

Molyneux, best known for leading the Lionhead team during the creation of the Fable franchise, has told Beefjack that, “We’ve got 12 people now, and I’m trying to push this to 20 people as soon as possible, and then we’re directing all of our staff at the moment towards these things called 22 Experiments, which are 22 experiments that we will release digitally on the journey onto the final product that we’re going to make.”

The developer refused to offer any sort of information on the actual game but added, “Our whole passion is to use some of the technology which is around in the world today in a single product and a single experience, in a way that no one else has used it.

“I am fed up to the back teeth of consuming other people’s visions – of directors’ and screenwriters’ ideas of what a hero should be; of novelists writing stories that they think are good, but I think are rubbish. Why can’t we have stories about me? I want to have my own unique experiences.”

Molyneux says that despite the success of huge franchises like The Avengers and James Bond he still believes that the best stories are those linked to individuals and to the way they live.

The fact that the game will be released digitally probably means that gamers will be able to get it via the Xbox Live service from Microsoft and the PlayStation Network from Sony, although the company itself has not talked about actual platforms.

Lionhead is continuing to develop the Fable franchise, although no core game in the series has yet been announced.
