Mojang, the development team that created the groundbreaking Minecraft, says that it is currently satisfied with the number of players of its new Scrolls, but it might adopt a free-to-play model in the future.

Jakob Porser, one of the co-founders of the company, is quoted by GamesIndustry.biz as saying that, “We never want to make a game that sells lot of expensive things just because there are people who are willing to buy them.”

He adds, “We do not close the door for making Scrolls a free game in the future if that's what is needed to attract more players.”

Mojang says that so far, Scrolls has sold around 110,000 units.

At the moment, the title is in paid beta and the development team said it needed only a third of the announced sales to break even.

Scrolls will soon get an expanded single-player mode and versions for mobile devices.
