Modern Warfare's Javelin Glitch Is About to Go Away

Millions of people have played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 online, so it's no surprise that all sorts of glitches have been found. After all, the statistical chance that a player will run into a faulty code line is well in favor of the player. One of the most known ones, as well as one of the most vexing ones, is the Javelin Glitch. Even if it works with pretty much all launchers, the Javelin name stuck to it for being the most used weapon in the combo, since it delivered the biggest damage output.

The end-result of the glitch is that the player can skim across the map, running and knifing anyone in sight with the added bonus of becoming a human bomb upon death. It's one of those scenarios where you're afraid the enemy will kill you, but you're just as afraid to kill the enemy yourself. It's a lose-lose situation for the adversary of the Javelin Glitch. And, if you think that you're good enough to keep such exploiters at bay and yourself out of the blast zone, remember that perks like the increased explosive-weapon damage and the ability to sprint indefinitely will make your life a living hell.

The good news is that Infinity Ward is on top of the problem and is working around the clock to fix it. The company's Robert Bowling delivered the good news via Twitter and said that, "Javelin Glitch fix [is] currently in test. Once it's cleared, we'll be urging it through Microsoft & Sony certification as fast as possible." Later, he added that a PC fix was also in the works, and this one would be ready even sooner.

It's not some preferential treatment made to mend the broken egos of the PC gamers, it's just that, unlike with the consoles, it doesn't have to pass any of the manufacturer's certification process, so the update can be applied instantly, as soon as the testing for it is complete. But, even if the killing spree of the glitch is about to be ended, you shouldn't rush in and get as many kills as you can before it's fixed, but quite the opposite. Players caught using the glitch will find themselves banned from Xbox Live, so you're better off sticking to your FAL or M14 for you're free frags.

I think it's great that a patch is in the works and that it will be released shortly. The past few days this has been nothing but a problem, but in it's own right, it's pretty awesome. I myself have done it, but only in a private match with me and a friend. I would like to see an option to leave this stuff in, but as a separate match type. You could join a server, but before the game would start, it would inform you that patches such as (blah blah blah) have not been enabled. Therefore you could choose to play or leave. I loved Counter-Strike for all of the mods. It was very entertaining (AKA Chicken Mod). I know that Modern Warfare 2 is excellent already, but just mentioning a way for EVERYONE to change it up, would be interesting. Just my two cents.

I'm glad people using this exploit are getting banned. I played against someone who had marathon, danger close, and commando as their perks. Even if you shot him from midrange chances are that either you or a teammate would get killed from the suicide javelin.

His final kill count was 39 and 20 deaths which is utterly ridiculous. 39 kills is reasonable in ground war, but not in team deathmatch. One person accounting for over 50% of the other teams kills... no one is that good unless you cheat.

Needless to say, when everyone on my team said that we were going to report him after the match was over (and we did) he just left.

I hope this patch comes out soon.

Yeah, my friend was showing me the glitch, I thought it was pretty cool, but not to use all the time, I never do, I see people running around with it and it annoys me, for instance I was in a game where EVERYONE WAS RUNNING AROUND JAVELINING, I was one of two people who were legit, and my team was winning in domination so I stayed, I ended up going 20- 18 but all of my deaths were from knifes or Javelins it needs to go.
