One of the most quoted analysts in the video game industry has said that he expects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to make 1.1 billion dollars in less than six weeks and to be the biggest selling title of the current year.

In a note to investors Michael Pachter, who is an analyst watching the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan, has stated, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will likely be the year’s top-selling game. If MW3 receives strong review scores (≈ 85 or above on Metacritic.com), it should at least match predecessor Black Ops’ sales (over 25 million units).”

Pachter also added that personally he “would bet that are 10% higher over the same time frame, so $1.1 billion in the first six weeks.”

The analyst also told investors that he expects about 3 to 4 million player to pay up and subscribe to the all new Call of Duty Elite service.

The free version of the Elite program will allow gamers to link up with one another and get some stat tracking but those who are willing to pay each month will also get access to all the downloadable content launched for the game and to other exclusive television shows built around Modern Warfare 3.

The developers at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have set out to create a game which expands on the multiplayer side of the series, with the aim of making the game more inclusive and also more attractive to long term fans.

They are also creating a single player campaign built around international conspiracies and multiple view points.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be playable on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on November 8 all over the world, with a version for the Nintendo DS also on offer.
