Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the first person shooter from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision Blizzard, has managed to keep the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for yet another week, this time managing to do better than new release Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Modern Warfare 3 is already the biggest video game launch of the year but the fact that it can hold its own against another blockbuster in its first week on sale shows how well the game is doing.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, the open world action game from Ubisoft, has managed to take the second position in the chart with the last place on the podium going to Saints Row: The Third from THQ and Volition, a game that actually managed to gain a position this week.

Fourth place is occupied by The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda, which managed to just lose one place when compared to last week, while FIFA 12 continues to prove that the beautiful game stays popular in the long term by keeping fifth place.

WWE 12, the wrestling game from THQ that is supposed to be more family friendly, has landed in sixth place during its first week on sale while another new title, Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call from Nintendo is in seventh.

Just Dance 3, the rhythm game from Ubisoft has made good progress and arrived in eight place coming from tenth while Battlefield 3, the first person shooter from DICE and Electronic Arts, is continues its slow slide by coming in at number nine in the United Kingdom chart.

The top ten is closed down by Super Mario 3D Land for the Nintendo 3DS handheld, one of the first game for the device that has performed well in the UK.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, also from Nintendo, has slid out of the top ten down to 19 coming from seven.
