Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is due to get the Content Pack #2 downloadable content package on May 22, with new maps, new Spec Ops missions and an all new multiplayer mode that will be called Face Off.

The content will initially only be delivered on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft and neither developer Infinity Ward nor publisher Activision Blizzard has said when the collection is headed to the PC and the PlayStation 3.

The first Content Collection was delivered in March on the Xbox 360 and PS3 gamers needed to wait until late April to get it while PC players only got access to it in May.

The new Face Off Mode is designed to promote small, quick and intense battles that take place on maps where one versus one or two versus two matches are the best option.

The Content Collection #2 will include the following maps: Getaway, set in a mansion on the beach in Brazil, Lookout, an advanced outpost in Afganistan, and Oasis, a beach resort.

The Sanctuary and Foundation maps, currently offered exclusively via the Elite service, will also be included.

Two small maps for Face Off will also be delivered before the DLC in introduced, with Aground set in a wreck near the coast of Scotland and Erosion allowing gamers to fight near an erupting Mount Vesuvius.

The Spec Ops mode will get two missions: Ironclad, linked to the Hamburg mission in the campaign and to a big tank battle, and Killswitch, set in a Russian dockyard.

The Content Collection #2 will probably delivered another boost to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and will spur new interest in the multiplayer side of the first-person shooter as Activision and Treyarch put the finishing touches on the new Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
