14 DAY TRIAL // Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to receive a brand new patch that will address security issues on all platforms, not just on the PlayStation 3 as was reported up until now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has seen some new exploits and security issues appear recently, mostly on the PlayStation 3, as the Sony console was hacked and allowed pirates to play online without any repercussions.
Infinity Ward, the studio behind Modern Warfare 2, revealed on multiple occasions that it was waiting on Sony to address some of the issues before deploying an official patch.
It seems that the studio is finally ready to release an update, as the upcoming patch is now in the testing phase.
"We have a patch in development to address the issues in Modern Warfare 2 that should be ready for release shortly," IW creative strategist Robert Bowling said on Twitter.
"The latest Modern Warfare 2 patch, to address online security issues, will release for all platforms and is now in QA," he added.
Bowling revealed a few weeks ago that Infinity Ward's developers were working extremely hard on its "main focus right now," which is "preventing hackers from affecting legitimate players and addressing users who have already been affected."
While the PlayStation 3 edition of Modern Warfare 2 has seen the most problems recently, it's nice to hear that the studio is also going to deploy the patch onto the other platforms, including the PC and Xbox 360.
No word yet on when the patch is set to go live, as it all depends on how fast it can go through the testing phase.
If everything goes smoothly, you should expect its launch to occur sometime next week, through online services like Steam, the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, depending on your platform of choice.
