The Call of Duty series is one of the most important franchises to Activision as it generates a huge amount of profit with every iteration. With the overwhelming success of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the team at Infinity Ward, the creators of the series, has been hard at work developing a sequel to it, entitled Modern Warfare 2, which is coming together quite nicely.

After a lot of teasing from various executives from either Infinity Ward or Activision, we saw yesterday some 17 seconds’ worth of footage from the game, showcasing everything from snowmobiles to helicopters and even small submersibles, and now we receive some concrete details, thanks to GameInformer. The magazine has just revealed the cover of its June issue, which will feature a 10-page report on the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2.

But while the yesterday footage showed predominantly fighting in the snow, somewhere in the northern regions of the world, the cover of the issue, as you can see, shows a soldier in a Middle Eastern-like setting, with a big explosion behind him and in a quite casual pose, revealing that nothing really impresses him.

Even though it might look like a promotional poster for a summer blockbuster movie directed by Michael Bay, this does hint at the same dual stories that are a recurring element in the Call of Duty series, and will certainly make a lot of fans very interested in this game, if they weren't already.

As GameInformer promises that the coverage will “blow your mind,” all that we can do now is wait to hear the first details as the magazine gets shipped to subscribers in the following week. Keep checking back at Softpedia in order to hear the latest news about the game, which, according to Activision, will break all sales records when it will be released before the holiday season.
