We’re all waiting for the official Windows 8 port of the VLC multimedia player, but in the meantime, the Windows Store is being assaulted with all kinds of video players promising you a seamless experience.

Modern Video Player is an application that’s said to support “a lot” of video formats, including AVI, WMV, MP4, MPG, MPEG, TS and M2V.

As you can see, no FLV support is available for the time being, so a dedicated application that can handle this format might be required.

The application allows you to select the language and the audio stream for each loaded video, while also offering dedicated options to browse the local video library. It works fine on the desktop version of Windows 8, but also on Windows RT tablets.
