As announced earlier this week, Gameloft launched Modern Combat 5: Blackout on Microsoft’s modern platforms, so Windows 8.1 users can now get the game and play it on both desktops and tablets.

The title comes with 4 customizable classes that can be used in single and multiplayer games, individual and squad leaderboards, team fights in squad vs. squad matches, and class-specific skills that can be unlocked by earning more skill points.

Some other goodies are offered too, including spec-ops missions, story-based campaigns, more weapons, and a two-mode chat that allows you to talk to players in either global or squad worlds.

“Step into the action as the latest installment in the best FPS series raises the bar for shooter games once more! Create a squad, add your friends and test your individual and team skills against other squads! Is single player your thing? Then step into a world on the brink of anarchy and shoot your way out of one dire situation after another to expose a lunatic who’s trying to tear the world to shreds,” the game description published in the Windows Store reads.

As mentioned, it can be played on both desktops and tablets, with support also being offered for Windows RT, which is powering several devices, such as Microsoft’s own Surface RT.

The game is not offered for free, but with a $6.99 (5.50 euros) price tag and measures more than 800 MB in size, so it could take a while until you download it.
