Those who don’t understand, nor are willing to give it a go, generally see golf as the most boring and perhaps age-defining sports. Surely, there can’t be anything fun about driving around in a mock car, chasing a ball, some believe. This is precisely why Eye Candy Caddies came to be, an all-female caddie service that trains models to accompany golfers on their course. Sadly, whatever innovation these caddies brought to the table is ignored by Leaderboard, which has just banned the models from the company’s courses, the BBC informs.

The idea behind Eye Candy Caddies is that it takes professional models and trains them in the ways of the golf, if one may say so, so that they become ideal caddies for the course. The girls, all with past modeling experience, are not only extremely beautiful, but they are also properly trained to offer golfers suggestions on wind speed, direction and the likes, which makes them the ideal companions on the course. The only problem is that Leaderboard didn’t see it that way.

According to the company, the model caddies bring lots of prejudice to a sport that is so prestigious it has even been included in the next Olympics. The caddie service plays on outdated notions and ruins the reputation of golf, for which reason the company will have nothing to do with it. “Anyone who seriously cares about the development of the game should work to ensure that it is as professional, inclusive, and culturally inoffensive as any other major sport. Exploiting outmoded notions of golf as a male bastion is not ‘just a bit of fun’ – it damages the reputation of the sport as a whole as well as its appeal to members of the younger generation.” a spokesperson for Leaderboard tells BBC.

The caddie service is, on the other hand, unapologetic and plans to counteract the decision in order to save face. All the girls employed are highly trained to handle the job at hand and are not sent on the course just because they look good. Moreover, Managing Director Sarah Stacey says, they are dressed appropriately for the golf course and keep their comments strictly related to their job. In more ways than one, they are just regular caddies who simply happen to be prettier than they are.

“We add that extra sparkle and difference to any golf day and put a smile on people’s faces. All the girls are trained in the etiquette of golf and uniformed in appropriate golf attire. They all sign a code of conduct so everyone is clear about the boundaries.” Sarah Stacey explains for the aforementioned media outlet.
