The fashion industry has taught us that models must be stick-thin in order to cut it in the industry and, as such, we have come to appreciate them only on this account. There are exceptions to the rule, though, and their number is constantly increasing so as to show the world, again, that health should be the only focus, even in modeling. Stunner Bar Refaeli is one of them, as she herself admits to the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated.

The swimsuit issue of SI is among the greatest honors that can be bestowed upon a model, it has often been said. This year, said honor went to Bar Refaeli, but she also uses this opportunity to remember regular people (and women in particular) that looking good does not – and should not – come at the expense of one’s health. Take her for instance, she says: she works out and is careful as to what she eats, and is in such great shape that is currently one of the highest paid models.

Sports Illustrated could not pass the opportunity of having Bar and not learning her secret, so, after shooting for the spread, they sat her down and asked her a few questions. Among them was also whether she worked out and what she ate.

“Well, I love food and I love feeling healthy, so I do try to pay attention to nutrition, I think I am pretty good at it, but at least once a week I will have fries and a burger! Regarding exercise, I work out when I have time, but I usually don’t. Right now, I am answering these questions after a workout because I just took two weeks with no work, so I have the spare time.” Refaeli says in reply.

So, even if Bar’s secret to that amazing body lies in good genes rather than in something that she does, it’s good to see that she’s setting an example for other women, as several media outlets have pointed out. The fact that this is one model that actually stands apart from the rest (as opposed to waif-like Kate Moss, for example) only makes what she says weigh heavier in the balance.
