When it comes to computer modding I don't think there are that many things that still manage to impress me, although I have to admit this Corvette ZR1 Desktop PC mod that packs a PC inside a tight fitting Corvette ZR1 radio controlled car is quite impressive, especially if you consider this thing can still be “driven” as before.

Brought to our attention thanks to the casemodblog website, this project started life as a perfectly working Corvette ZR1 1:6 scale radio controlled car, although it seems this was't enough for some people until they somehow manage to cram a PC inside it.

Based on a Jetway NC64 Core 2 Duo mobile ITX mainboard, that is packed together with a quad-core Intel Q9000 mobile processor none the less, this Vette also features a Mushkin 60GB Callisto SSD and 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500, so things are bound to get pretty fast (this is a Corvette after all).

Other features include a Gigabyte built Radeon HD 4350 512MB graphics, power being provided by a 150W power supply, that can be removed “for cruising around the parking lot” on the also included 9.6V R/C battery.

And to make this a fully fledged PC, the modder also integrated a slimline laptop DVD optical unit inside the car, this popping up outside of its roof, for a truly impressive effect.

Of course that building such a complex project took this modder quite a bit of time since the Corvette ZR1 Desktop PC was started sometime at the end of May, in order to be finalized about five months later, in October, so if you plan on starting a build like this you better make sure that a social life isn't among your priorities.

But then again, who can argue with such a beautifully build piece of art that somehow manages to bring together some of the coolest toys available to modern man, R/C cars and computers that is.
