ModNation Racers, one of the most interesting arcade racing games to hit the PlayStation 3, has received a new update, 1.04, which removes the Region Lock for the game.

The game is part of Sony's Play, Create, Share strategy, and allows players to create their own racing drivers, their own racing karts, as well as their own tracks on which they can race their customized creations.

Besides that, they can access creations from other players, and experience what others have made using the basic tools laid out by ModNation Racers.

Now, through the latest 1.04 patch, the developers and United Front Games have removed the region lock, meaning that the player can race any other from all around the world.

"If you haven’t heard yet, we have removed the region lock in the 1.04 update that is available now," revealed the studio in a statement. "That means you can invite friends to race all around the world to a Casual Race or XP Race! Now find out who the best kart racer is in the world!"

Besides the new worldwide online play, ModNation Racers players will also get a chance to download specific tracks and karts created by Sony's best and brightest studios, including Naughty Dog or Sucker Punch, all from the "ArtistSpotlight1" user.

If you really like the Uncharted franchise, you will be able to download the Nathan Drake racer and kart pack, for 1.99 dollars, as well as the Victor Sullivan racer and kart, and the special track dedicated to the game from the ArtistSpotlight1 PSN user for free.

If inFamous really got you hooked, you can get the Cole racer, the Ray Sphere kart and the Empire City track for free from that same user.

Last but not least, special creations from Huck Gee and Jesse Hernandez will also be available for download, and all you need to do is search for the ArtistSpotlight1 user in ModNation Racers to see and download all of the creations.

Until Gran Turismo 5 comes along, ModNation Racers will be more than enough to quench your racing thirst.
