Following the global agreement between Vodafone and Opera Software, Mobiltel, one of the former's local partners, will offer a customized version of the Opera Mini mobile browser for the first time in Bulgaria.

According to Vodafone, more than five million Mobiltel customers in Bulgaria will have access to an immersive mobile web experience via Opera Mini browser.

For those who don't know the company behind the popular Opera lineup of products and Vodafone have signed a global agreement that enables the carrier and its local partners to deliver a customized Opera Mini client, which is called Vodafone Internet by Opera Mini.

This customized version of the browser provides users in Bulgaria with the developer's compression technology and a unique set of preconfigured local websites and services.

Opera Mini has become the most loved mobile web adventure in the world,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.

The reason is that everyone can join, regardless of whether they use a smartphone or feature phone. We are happy that Telekom Austria Group, one of the most innovative operators in Europe, will help us to expand this adventure in Central Europe.”

The application currently supports more than 3,000 different mobile phone models, from entry-level mobile phones to high-end smartphones, so Mobiltel customers won't have any compatibility issues when installing Opera Mini.

In addition, Mobiltel subscribers will also be able to download it for free or by sending an SMS with “opera” to 124.

It is worth mentioning that the service will offer users free unlimited browsing for one month.

We are continually bringing customized versions of Opera Mini to new regions where Vodafone and its partners operate, and we believe even more subscribers will get to enjoy it in the future,” said Paul-Gerhard Itjeshorst, partner markets head of Europe at Vodafone Group.
