X1800 series was the last official launch coming from Ati with Alienware being the first to integrate it into a laptop. This product has lasted for quite a while in the
notebook world. But since the launch of Geforce Go 7900GS, things took a nasty turn for Ati mainly because Nvidia's product was significantly faster. And as always, the result was a new mobile card.

Actually it was not Ati (or AMD) who launched this card. And there was no official launch either. Fujitsu-Siemens decided that they will integrate X1900 mobile series into their future AMILO Xi 1554 laptop model, powered by a Core 2 Duo mobile CPU, using a 17-inch display and up to 2GB of memory. And that was all.

All the capabilities of the desktop version are also present here: Shader model 3.0, Avivo display architecture, HDCP support for HD-ready LCDs and HD Video playback up to 1080p. No info about the pixel/vertex shader unit number or the GPU/memory clocks was released. I guess we'll just have to wait for the product to come out in order to produce some numbers.

Anyway, nice product for an even nicer 17" HD LCD (1920x1200 capable). Also note that the mobile card is presented in a MXM III form factor and you'll see the entire picture. This product may turn into a big hit for Ati if it will be used by large laptop manufacturers in the future.
