Retina-X Studios have announced availability of their Mobile Spy app for iPhone 4. According to the developers, no other professional monitoring software is currently compatible with iOS 4. Also according to the makers of the software, you will need a jailbroken device prior to installing Mobile Spy, which costs $99.97 for a year’s worth of use. Ouch!

To get right to the point, the key benefits of using Mobile Spy for iOS are the ability to track GPS locations, SMS messages, photos and calls of children or employees inside a secure online control panel, according to Retina-X Studios.

To do all this, Mobile Spy silently records the entire text of all SMS text messages, information about each call, emails, photos snapped, web visits, contacts list and actual GPS positions.

After being logged, all these details are “silently uploaded to the user's secure online account.” Logs are then viewable immediately.

The official Retina-X Studios press release announcing availability of the app for iPhone 4 devices includes a statement from one Mobile Spy customer, Natalie Johnson, who had the following to say about the solution:

"Mobile Spy is by far the easiest and best to use. If you doubt someone's honesty then buy this product; you will have the answers or reassurance that you need. I got my answers within a week of using Mobile Spy."

Mobile Spy supports Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, Symbian OS and Windows Mobile smartphones. A version tailored for Windows Phone 7 devices is in the works as well.

Finally, as customers follow the link to see how they can get their hands on Mobile Spy for iPhone, or iPad, Retina-X Studios reveals that they must perform a jailbreak before attempting to install the software.

It is worth noting at this point that Apple's policies forbid jailbreaking its iOS devices. The company actually refuses to provide support for those with jailbroken units, even if they are still covered by warranty.

Yet the practice has been deemed legal, albeit only in the U.S. for now.

“Your iPhone MUST be jailbroken prior to installing Mobile Spy. We DO NOT PROVIDE SUPPORT for the jailbreaking process,” Retina-X Studios states on its web site.

“This must be done by the customer,” it adds, and then points customers to jailbreak guides from a couple of sources.
