This might actually prove useful

Sony Ericsson has thought of an innovative concept for a new product. We're talking about the extremely useful mobile phone with an integrated remote control.

Mobile phones are so easy to handle and always in the user's pocket, so why not make them capable of providing several other functions than the ones that they are originally designed for? That must have been the logic that set ground for this new patent from Sony Ericsson which has received approving from the US Patent & Trademark Office.

The remote control that comes integrated in the new Sony Ericsson phone model is displayed on a touch screen that makes it easy for the concept to be possible without having to burden the cell phone with a great number of buttons.

The mobile phone remote will be able to control home devices such as TVs or Hi-Fi electronics. Even more, the remote control actually acts like a "skin" that can be downloaded from a web-site, through Bluetooth or infrared.

It is a highly innovative idea, although not brand new. Casio also integrated remote control functionality in a watch that it released several years ago. This makes it a bit less surprising to see the same concept applied to a cell phone, considering the fact that, during the last years, all sorts of intriguing combinations have been made between mobile phones and different other appliances that are meant to ease people's lives.

It's a great and quite useful idea, especially considering the fact that a great amount of people often misplace the remote control. Now all you have to do is have someone call you on your remote control phone and you'll be able to find it just by following the ringtone.
