A series of conference programming and Developer Days are set to take place at this year's edition of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. Some of the most important representants of the mobile communication world will attend, as to support the future adoption of mobile Linux at a large scale.

Linux comes as a solution for the mobile manufacturers to bring their users more capable devices with a greater amount of flexibility and at considerably lower costs. The market for this type of operating system is an extremely favorable one, as sales for such phones have grown with more than 30 percent in 2004. Moreover, almost 3 million such devices are expected to be used at a worldwide scale by 2009.

"The explosive growth of Linux as a key platform for the mobile industry opens up new opportunities for the Linux community", said Didier Diaz, senior vice president, product strategy management at Access. This company will organize a Developer Day in order to help all those interested in building applications for Access Linux Platform.

"In an industry predicted to ship over 1 billion handsets in the coming year, Linux is one of the fastest growing operating systems in mobile and clearly represents a significant developer opportunity", said Christy Wyatt, vice president, ecosystem and market development at Motorola. This company has declared to be one of the most supportive ones for future use of mobile Linux at a large scale. "As a leader in mobile Linux, Motorola is proud to return to LinuxWorld as a Platinum sponsor to help developers mobilize their innovation", Christy Wyat further added.

LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place on August 6-9. This proves to be the most important event which seeks to help mobile manufacturers find open source solutions for developing reliable Linux applications at high standards.
