Mobile content developer and publisher Mobifusion announced an agreement with Oxford University Press to create and deliver mobile editions of Oxford's
key dictionaries.

"Oxford University Press is actively pursuing alternate media for our strong core titles," said Evan Schnittman, Vice President, Business Development at Oxford University Press. "Partnering with Mobifusion immediately gave us a platform to reach mobile users with a rich experience of our dictionaries, regardless of their handset, operating system or platform. Additionally, Mobifusion has been successful in penetrating the wireless operator markets - allowing our dictionaries to be sold through the strongest channels possible."

The mobile editions of Oxford dictionaries produced by Mobifusion are easy-to-navigate and complete versions of well-known dictionaries such as the Oxford American Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus, Concise Oxford English Dictionary, Concise Oxford Spanish Dictionary and Concise Canadian Oxford Dictionary. Also coming soon are Oxford-Hachette French Dictionary, Oxford-Duden German Dictionary, Oxford-Paravia Italian Dictionary and Oxford Portuguese Mini-Dictionary.

"Our patented m-Publishing technology combined with the deep reference content from Oxford University Press is a perfect match to provide mobilized content to the consumers," said Pavan Mandhani, founder and CEO of Mobifusion. "Oxford is probably the world's best-known and most respected publisher who consistently delivers unparalleled quality dictionaries. We are excited at the prospect of making Oxford an 'at your fingertips' standard application for mobile phone users around the world."

Oxford dictionaries from Mobifusion will be available initially from several US operators, Canada's leading operator, India's top wireless operator and other mobile carriers in Europe and Asia. The Oxford American Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus is currently available for the Mobifusion DataViewer (formerly known as Town Compass DataViewer) application for a price of $22.46. A Windows Mobile Pocket PC trial version of the dictionary can be downloaded here, while a version for Windows Mobile Smartphones can be found here. The DataViewer is available as a free download for Pocket PC here, and for Smartphone here.
