Shigeru Miyamoto, the leading game creator at Nintendo, says that the Retro Studios development team might choose to make a new Metroid title in the future.

NintendoLife quotes the legendary game maker as saying that, "I definitely think it’s a franchise that we value and we certainly want to see what we can do with it in the future. And, obviously, Retro is a very high priority in terms of the potential team that would be considered for working on a Metroid game."

Miyamoto has also said that Retro can create multiple games at the same time, which suggests that the team is already working on other titles for the Wii U.

In November, the studio will deliver Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the home console.

Metroid was one of the series that powered the success of Nintendo devices in the past.
