14 DAY TRIAL // Shigeru Miyamoto, the main video game designer working at Nintendo, says that a new and mysterious Wii U based video game is taking up most of his time at the moment.
Polygon translates an interview from Famitsu in which the developer states, “We'll have Mario Kart 8 out next spring, and at that point we'll have the whole lineup in place, so I think it's about time we brought out a new franchise.”
He adds, “I can't give out details, but that's the title that's been keeping me pretty busy lately.”
Previously, Miyamoto has explained that for him a new franchise involves a radical change of mechanics rather than simply a new world and new characters.
The developer is planning to launch Pikmin 3 in the middle of August and the mention of Mario Kart 8 probably means that the secret project will be launched in 2014.
