It's no surprise that MixRadio went cross-platform with its music streaming service, especially that the company is not owned by Microsoft anymore.

Even so, MixRadio confirmed that it had no plans to stop supporting Microsoft's Windows Phone platform, even if the operating system has such a low market share.

This means that MixRadio application will continue to come pre-loaded on Microsoft's Lumia smartphones until the Redmond-based company says otherwise.

“We will also continue to deliver a great service to existing users on Windows Phone,” said MixRadio CEO Jyrki Rosenberg.

At the same time, MixRadio has big plans for Android and iOS platforms. Today, the company debuted its app on these platforms with both being available for free.

A new partnership with HTC to bring the service on BlinkFeed

Moreover, MixRadio announced it has teamed up with HTC to include the music streaming service in BlinkFeed. The application will provide personalized music news in HTC's BlinkFeed based on users' listening habits.

In addition, MixRadio will continue to offer curated mixes, the option to listen to the music while offline, as well as customized streams.

The music streaming service is already available in more than 30 countries and has a library of over 35 million tracks, so expanding to additional platforms was the right thing to do for MixRadio.

Android and iOS might not be the only platforms that MixRadio plans to make its music streaming service available on. It wouldn't be surprising to see the service on consoles as well.

You can now download MixRadio for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.1 and up.

For those who use iOS, MixRadio is now available for download at App Store. It should work on all devices powered by iOS 8.0 and up.
