Miniaturization seems to be the name of the game and after we had presented one of the smallest MP3 player's maybe now is the time to look after a projector with same characteristics.

And it seems that Mitubishi experts had the same thing in their mind and five days ago they announced the Pocket Projector. Actually the first time when they mentioned this project to the public was in January at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

With dimensions of just 121mmx47mmx97mm and weighing only 400g, the Mitsubishi Pocket Projector can be carried anywhere you want. In fact the Pocket Projector is not entirely a Mitubishi project, because it is powered by the latest DLP? chip by Texas Instruments, responsible for image formed digitally.

The Pocket Projector it is lighted by three Lumileds? LEDs (red, green, blue) that produce an SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) image. According to Mitubishi, the projector's advanced lighting technology is rated to last an unprecedented 20,000 hours; with an average use of five hours per day, the lamp is expected to last over 10 years.

What about the size of the image? At a distance of about 30 centimeters, the projector can produce an image of 20 inch. If you think this is not enough then you must choose the 90 centimeters distance with a screen size of 40 inches.

Furthermore, the projector is not intended only for business users and, because it supports composite, s-video, and VGA connectors it can be a great display tool for digital cameras, handheld gaming and portable DVD player.

This new product will be available in July 2005 at a suggested retail price of f $699 and it will be shipped with a slip cover and an AC power cord. For $199 more, Mitsubishi also plans to offer Convenience Packs, which will contain application-specific cables and accessories.

Conclusion? "This projector can go where no projector has gone before", as James Chan, projector product marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, said in the press release.
