Tired of stretching out your fingers across the entire keyboard? Here's a pseudo-alternative device that will probably help you keep your level 6 Warcraft hero alive. The Mitten keyboard was first revealed at CeBIT this year by a company called Lamptron. It's actually a mini keyboard containing only the keys which are
used often in FPS and strategy games.
The company touted that the keys have been 'tactically' placed and the design and layout is based on actual feedback from military training. Does this mean soldiers already used this in FPS training?
The device also comes with a padded wrist rest in case your Battlenet opponents give you too much trouble. It can be connected to your computer via USB and once you hook it, the keys will light up in a cool shade of blue, offering all the essential buttons required (centered around the staple WASD format).
The bad news is that you can't type coherent messages to other players in the server, since it lacks three other vowels and just about 80 other keys. Probably this won't attract "Fatal1ty", "4k Grubby" or "Bk.Insomnia" (professional electronic sports players). The fact that it has a soft look will probably turn all gamers off since they're all more territorial than normal guys are. Oh, one more thing: when you look at the picture you'll see that the 'B' key has been placed right next to the C key. Who doesn't like V from Vendeta, eh? Even noobs would go for the V. There's no word on an actual release date or price, but Lamptron said it will be available in 2 colors: black and orange. Well, GG Lamptron then!
