Though it already had all the capabilities that a good HDTV is expected to possess, the REAL LCD-22BLR500 from Mitsubishi was given some extra assets to set it apart from most of its kind.

The idea of Smart TVs is not a new one, but neither are such products very common in any area of the world.

Then again, with how things are going, it is quite possible that they will stop being an oddity within the year.

Essentially, Smart TVs are HDTVs with a few extra features that one wouldn't normally find outside a PC, a multimedia player, set-top box or other such things.

It turns out that this is exactly the sort of display solution that Mitsubishi has created, under the name of REAL LCD-22BLR500.

Otherwise known as an all-in-one monitor, it features not just a built-in Blu-ray drive, but also a hard disk drive of 500 GB.

This is so that one can store films and music directly onto the TV without having to rely on an extra electronic, saving space, money and power.

The HDTV should also have a LAN port, an integrated SD card reader and a USB connector, all so that media can be played and copied off many different sorts of media.

Granted, those that want to set up their own home theater entertainment system probably won't go for something like this, but many people will jump at the chance to get this 22-inch HD convenient solution.

Currently, the device is scheduled to become available next month, on July 21, 2011 to be exact, at which point it will carry a price of 100,000 Yen, the rough equivalent of $1,238.

Unfortunately, it will, at least initially, only sell in Japan, and there is, at this point in time, no way of knowing when, if ever, other countries will get it.
