To be perfectly honest, Mitsubishi's TVs, despite being some true technological works of art, have never really enjoyed a huge level of success, and now, it seems that the company has finally officially acknowledged this state of facts and revealed the fact that it will shift its focus in order to boost sales.

Without a doubt, the most important and, in the same time, drastic measure taken by Mitsubishi is to give up completely on its LCD TV business, relocating and closing offices pertaining to this particular branch of the company, as well as reducing the workforce currently employed in their factory in Mexicali, Mexico.

This move shouldn't really come as a major surprise, given the fact that Mitsubishi LCD TVs were not exactly hugely successful, especially given the very harsh competition on this particular market, where the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony, Toshiba or Panasonic are engaged in a fierce battle.

However, the Japanese company doesn't plan to exit the display solutions' market completely, as Mitsubishi officially revealed the fact that they'll be continue to produce both micro-display projection televisions (MDPTVs) and Laservue televisions in sizes 73" and above (given their huge price point, but also level of quality they provide, the market for these behemoths has not really significantly changed over the past couple of years).

Furthermore, the manufacture and sales of projectors, display walls, digital signage display solutions and even printers won't be affected by this decision, the company even pointing out that they plan to boost their sales in these areas.

Unfortunately, beside some layoffs within their own staff, this re-focusing of the business activities will also most likely trigger some reactions from the company's retail partners, whose sales will also be ultimately affected.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this move will ultimately help Mitsubishi's business, but this is something only time will tell.
