Intended for mission-critical applications, rather than consumers

Users may be familiar with the idea of uninterruptible power supplies, but they may still be taken off guard by the newest such thing to leave Mitsubishi's labs.

The idea of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) came about when people needed something that could somehow protect systems form instant power failure.

The issue became even more critical when business and enterprise applications, especially data centers and servers, started to gain more and more prominence.

Today, one can safely say that UPS devices exist in many specs, though their overall looks aren't that varied.

Coming to add something less than ordinary is Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, whose DiamondPlus 1100 is a three-phase UPS with a modular design.

It has, among other things, hot-swappable power and battery modules, plus rapid mean-time-to repair (MTTR).

Also, Mitsubishi made it possible to arrange the unit in N+1 configuration, boosting the reliability of the system.

“The DiamondPlus 1100 complements our 80 kVA - 750 kVA 9900 series, and gives energy-conscious users another UPS solution to meet their needs,” said Dean Datre, general manager, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products’ UPS division.

For those that want to know the specifications of the newcomer, the numbers might be impressive to the trained eye.

The efficiency of up to 93.4 percent definitely can't be easily glossed over, and the compact design is a considerable perk for something with “a high 0.9 output power factor.”

Also, the fact that the item can be upgraded from 10kVA to 50kVA definitely isn't something to scoff at either.

Finally, the company made a point of mentioning that, with the arrival of the DiamondPlus 1100, there is now a broad spectrum of high-efficiency, on-line double conversion UPS systems from 10 kVA to 750 kVA, ready and waiting for the eyes of prospective customers to fall upon them.
