Missouri Valley fan Alex Permann thought he had really done it when he hit the half-court shot at Sunday's game, but it wasn't in the cards for him.

According to UPI, he made a layup, a free throw and managed an impressive half-court shot in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship on Sunday.

That last shot is what would have separated most people from the $50,000 (€38,500) contest prize, so he believed that making it would guarantee being awarded the money.

Unfortunately, the competition regulations state that he has to land a 3-pointer during his allotted 24 seconds too, which he has failed to do.

After the half-court shot, you can see him jumping up and down and celebrating, supported by fans at the Scottrade Center. Finding out he didn't get the prize must have made him very bitter.
