The Missouri Credit Union is alerting 39,000 current and former customers after a file containing personal details was made publicly accessible on the financial organization’s website.

According to the Office of the Missouri Attorney General, the credit union became aware of the issue after being contacted by a member.

ConnectMidMissouri.com informs that said file contained names, addresses, social security numbers, account numbers, and passwords.

The company stated that the file was accessed only 10 times in the short period of time it was online.

To prevent any misuse of the exposed information, Missouri Credit Union is offering impacted individuals free identity protection services for one year.

In the meantime, the financial institution is working on implementing additional security measures to avoid future incidents.

Missouri Credit Union customers should contact the organization immediately in case they notice any suspicious transactions.
