Most of the eco-conscious people from Maryland are far from being pleased with what Miss Maryland is wearing. The prize she obtained after winning the pageant is an expensive, luxurious fur coat that makes PETA activists feel like fainting.

Last week, when she arrived at the Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown for a high-class reception, before heading to compete in this year's Miss America pageant, demonstrators made it clear no furry items are welcomed.

Moreover, furious people expressed how they feel about this kind of awards, carrying banners reading “fur is worn only by beautiful animals and ugly people.” She has been strongly encouraged to sell her prize and donate the amount obtained to PETA.

If Carlie Colella wants to be remembered, she definitely would have to work on her attitude, since a true Miss Maryland has do so much more than pretending to save whales, help cure AIDS and fight for world peace.
