We have a new Miss Universe for the year 2015: the famous beauty pageant took place in Miami on Sunday and of the beauties from over 80 countries, a winner was crowned. Her name is Paulina Vega and she is Miss Colombia.
However, online, another winner emerged shortly after Vega’s name was called out: Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell, who was dubbed the most beautiful, smart and interesting beauty queen to ever walk the stage at the pageant and who had consequently been robbed of her rightful title.
Miss Jamaica ranked 4th in the competition.
The Twitterverse is up in arms
Throughout the competition, Miss Jamaica earned a solid following online because of the way she carried herself, her unconventional (for a beauty pageant) beauty and her honesty. Asked at one point if she could name the biggest contributions her country had given to the world, she named Bob Marley and Usain Bolt.
She was also embraced for being down to earth and relatable, with people on Twitter saying that she was the only contestant to acknowledge the audience and greet the judges.
Miss Jamaica was like a breath of fresh air in the beauty pageant scenery, and while audiences loved her for this very reason, it might have also been what made her lose the crown to Miss Colombia or not even place in the top 3, if we’re to believe what her supporters are saying online.
In other words, Miss Jamaica was too confident, and with her gorgeous pixie cut, too unlike a “regular” beauty queen that it eventually cost her her crown, even though she deserved it.
A choice of the most recent tweets on the topic is included below: as you can see for yourself, people are not happy that she didn’t win. This doesn’t reflect negatively on Miss Colombia, because it was not her fault, but there are voices claiming that Miss Universe is getting too narrow-minded and that this “snub” proves it.
Miss Colombia Paulina Vega is a business administration student
Miss USA Nia Sanchez was the first runner-up, while Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha was named second runner-up. The new Miss Universe, Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, is 22 years old and hails from Barranquilla.
She studies business administration and told the judges that, once she’s done with the beauty pageants, she will resume her studies because it’s what she wants to do in life as far as a career goes.
“It will be a dream come true to represent the woman of today. A woman that not only care about being beautiful and being glamorous, but also cares about being a professional, intelligent, hard-working person,” she also said.
Now, she will get to represent exactly that type of woman for the rest of the year, for as long as she holds onto the Miss Universe crown.

I'm sorry I'm retweeting a lot of #MissJamaica tweets. I can't help it. She should've won or at least been part of the top two.
