Over the weekend, beauty queen Carrie Prejean, Miss California running for the title of Miss USA, offended many when she said she believed marriage should be exclusively between a man and a woman because that was how she had been raised. However, even if this statement cost her her crown, she is not sorry, as she has just revealed to Matt Lauer on “Today,” as TMZ informs.

Speaking with the talk show host, Prejean restated her belief that anyone in America was free to have their own opinions, even at the cost of something they held as dearly as she did the crown of Miss USA. Moreover, at everybody’s suggestion that she should have played it more safe and have found a way to diplomatically answer the question, the beauty queen has only one thing to say: as far as she’s concerned, she was biblically correct and, because of that, she has no regrets.

“The way that I answered might have been offensive... but for me, it was being biblically correct.” Prejean tells Lauer on the show. Of course, she is admittedly aware that many took it personally as an offense, despite the fact that she repeatedly stressed she did not mean her comments to be offensive for anyone. However, she adds, she plans to make of herself – and of her story of losing the crown of Miss USA for being honest, as she likes to put it – a parable for all young girls, who will thus learn that they need to stay true to themselves and not make compromises, no matter the price they pay.

As we noted earlier, the controversy began when blogger Perez Hilton asked Prejean on Miss USA over the weekend how she felt about same-gender marriages. She said she was raised to believe that only a man and a woman should wed, although she personally had nothing against things being otherwise. Nevertheless, her comments enraged many and might even have caused her to lose the crown, as Carrie sees it.

“It did cost me my crown. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do. It is a very touchy subject and I see where [Hilton] was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.” Prejean shared hours after the controversy got in the media.

There you have it folks. Miss USA will always be chosen on political and religious viewpoints. Forget the talent and beauty portion of the show. I applaud Carrie Prejean for standing firm to her opinion no matter what the cost. It is no longer popular being a Christian in America. This country has largely lost its moral compass. To Carrie Prejean, I say thank you and God bless you. I found your courage inspirational. America needs more people like you. It's Perez Hilton who made a fool of himself going on an emotional tirade on the Internet and slandering her name until he was blue in the face.

I think people heard what they wanted to hear, not what was said. I applaud Miss California for speaking how she truely felt and she should not be ashamed of anything. There was a time in this country when a subject like this wasn't even mentioned on national tv. If you don't believe in gay marriage, why should you be penalized for free speech? What she said din't HURT anyone. I think she deserved the crown but didn't get it b/c the pagant officials were afraid of the neg publicity it'd bring. That's sad that in 2009 free speech doesn't exist anymore! Perez Hilton is a rotten excuse for a human being and yes, the WHOLE world knows he's gay. That doesn't give him the right to attack and demonize this woman for not agreeing with him. If she'd said she supports gay marriage how many people out there would be angry that she said that? Think about it...

Fight back as hard as you can America, against these leftist liberals who are shoving their views down our throats. Today it's not awarding (i.e., hiring) the deserving Miss USA her crown, tomorrow it's not hiring you to a job that will feed your family. The next day after that, it will be not allowing you to have children because your politically incorrect views will be deemed a detriment to the new society and your entire family dynasty is gone right before your eyes. Don't think it can't happen - it's only a matter of time before "breeding," as the gaystapo calls it, is government controlled.

I absolutey love your statement that it is more important for you to be biblically correct than politically correct. Obviously, the real crown you are going for has eternal value! Thank you, Dear Carrie, for being the most beautiful role model we could ever ask for!

Carrie, you are the true example of what we need in this world today. You spoke your mind and I agree with you. Even if I did not agree, the dipstick asked for your opinion. If you would have said anything else and won, being the Christian that you are, it would have been a hollow victory. I and I bet a majority of people think you are the winner. I think America has become to politcally correct.

I am so proud of you!! The goofy celebs that think our Lord loves all marriages, have not been reading the same Bible as me.. I truly believe that you will be bleesed for standing your ground, and I know thousands of people that are behind you 100% Thank you for renewing my faith..

Dear Carrie, Thank you for having this kind of courage, faith and love--Please persevere we need more role models to be an inspiriation to all and show them an example of True Love: caring enough about the other not to mislead them but show them THE WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE: Jesus Christ. Your beauty will last forever...as it's not what is on the outside that really makes one happy and joyful, but what's on the inside. Thanks for sharing your true inner beauty to the world, even if it might not be recognized by some. Let's make all America's people beautiful inside, because that is possible with God!

First of all to Miss Prejean, I do highly disagree with your opinion on gay marriage. It saddens me to know that all Americans are not allowed the freedoms they are entitled to. But I also have to say I am very disappointed at how you are being treated just for speaking your mind. This is America, right? The country where you can thing, feel, and worship however you wish without the fear of persecution? Just because your beliefs do not coincide with mine, that does not mean you have no right to express them.

I am not support women pagent/contest , but Iam totally support what miss carrie said. You can not always please everybody. We do not even have to lie about something that we disagree.

This is sample of (selective) freedom of speech. You can speak only what is trendy :D

LGBT claim right of freedom to choose their sexual orientation and to speak accordingly, but deny that very same right to others (directly or through their lobbies).

I'm in South Africa and heard about this over the news and I just want to say, I hope it's not too late to say it, well done Carrie. The Bible says what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? The crown you wold have kept, no matter how wonderful, cannot be compared to the glory and beauty that is reserved for those who are faithful to God. Well done and to all children of God everywhere, Keep the faith, do not grow weary of doing good for you will reap a harvest if you do not faint.
