The gorgeous Jennifer Berry, crowned with the supreme title of the most beautiful woman in the United States in January had to undergo surgery for undisclosed reasons and to spend one night in a hospital.
A spokesperson for the Miss America Organization talked to the press and explained why Berry could not fulfill her engagement for this week and probably for the next one too. She stated that Miss 2006 was spending some time with her family and friends on Saturday when she was admitted at Rex Hospital, in Raleigh, N.C.
According to the spokesperson's words, Berry was taken to the emergency room of the hospital and then straight to surgery. She was released the next day, after a night under observation, and is now recuperating at home.
'I spoke to her today and she's in wonderful spirits. Although it was necessary to cancel some of her appearances this week, we are hopeful that she will return to work to fulfill her responsibilities as Miss America 2006 and continue the wonderful work that has marked her year of service', the pageant representative said. She then added that the reasons for the surgery will not be disclosed to the press and that the patient herself is temporarily not available for comment.
Coming from Tulsa, the 22-year-old aspiring teacher went down in history as the first winner of Miss America 2006 when the beauty contest took place outside Atlantic City. When she was given the option for her platform issue, Berry chose reducing drunk driving and underage drinking as the two things she would like to work on.
