14 DAY TRIAL // At the end of last week, actress Mischa Barton was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was involuntarily admitted for a psychiatric evaluation, under statute 5150. According to the California law, a patient can be held against their will for 72 hours after arrival, and so is Mischa. In the meanwhile, her friends are dishing out details of her condition, the New York Post says.
Insiders, namely people close to the actress who know what happened the night the police were called to her apartment and she was later escorted by the ambulance to the clinic, where she remains to this date, are saying she had been in a very bad shape as of late. She had been working less and partying more than ever, they reveal. After three days of non-stop partying (meaning, mostly doing drugs, insiders add), Mischa’s friends got extremely scared that she might hurt herself that they called the police.
“Mischa Barton was so high on coke following a marathon three-day bender that friends called cops afraid she would kill herself, sources have told The Post. Barton, 23, was taken away from her LA home by police and placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold on Wednesday.” the NY Post writes. Barton’s publicist, on the other hand, is telling the media that his client has been hospitalized and will remain confined by doctor’s orders. As of now, he did not wish to detail what might have brought about the sudden hospitalization.
Friends are saying, though, that it’s a disordered lifestyle and lack of love that have pushed Mischa to these extremes. That and the fact that her career is not exactly at its highest, and the constant ridicule the star has been subjected to in the media over the past couple of months have worked together to make of the 23-year-old actress a huge mess that no one can talk out of heading down the self-destruction route.
“She’s running out of money and can’t find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral. She is a mess. She is a suicidal, uninsurable mess. She is a tortured and troubled person. You can survive a bad review, but when you don’t show up for the premiere of your new film, it’s not a good sign of where your career is heading.” sources explain for the aforementioned publication.
