Mirror's Edge is clearly one of the most innovative games this holiday season, promising to bring a lot of new features that were never before explored by any other game. Placing the players in the sports shoes of Faith, a runner who transports different kinds of cargo on the roofs of buildings in a totalitarian world, the game will offer players a lot of interesting things.

From the fact that you can progress through the game almost without any weapons, a feature that sparked quite a lot of discussions, to the fact that you need to constantly keep moving in order to maintain your momentum and achieve very spectacular jumps, the whole gameplay can seem very different as opposed to regular first-person titles.

While the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game were already released, PC gamers are left to wait for the edition made specifically for their favorite platform until January, when the developers at EA DICE said that they would launch the game. But PC users needn't worry, as this future version will feature something quite different from its console counterparts, which is support for PhysX technology.

This new graphics technology has been bought by Nvidia from the original creator, Ageia, and implemented in all of its videocards, starting from the GeForce 8 generation of products. This implementation of the PhysX technology will bring the game world to life with real effects of wind, weapon impact, and in-game movements.

“Faith's world in Mirror's Edge is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous; it is imperative that the gameplay reflect this level of urgency,” said Owen O'Brien, senior producer at DICE. “NVIDIA PhysX technology affords us the ability to bring a totally new level of immersion to the game, and by doing so, gamers can truly become part of the world.”

Some very great news for gamers who possess such a videocard that can run PhysX technology, as these new effects will certainly make the console owners quite jealous of this version. Let's just hope that January comes sooner and the wait will be over.
