Other platforms need to wait

Mirror's Edge is perhaps one of the most innovative titles that have appeared last year. Its fresh and unique take on platforming and free-running games coupled with some stunning visuals and level design have made it a breath of fresh air among the other titles that have appeared at the end of last year.

Unfortunately, this hasn't made it very popular with fans, who preferred sequels to this new IP. However, all is not lost, as Electronic Arts and its DICE studio are still backing it up, and their support was scheduled to materialize in a DLC (Downloadable Content) pack that would bring new maps for the Time Trial mode of the game. The maps were slated to be released today, but it would now seem that due to some technical problems the pack will be delayed on all the platforms it was meant to appear on.

“To offer a completely smooth experience for players, DICE announced today that the DLC map pack for Mirror's Edge on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC will be delayed until February.” reads the official statement made by EA. “However, the free exclusive map for PlayStation 3 players will be available to download on January 29 as previously announced.”

PlayStation 3 owners will receive today, as part of the weekly update to the PlayStation Store, a free map via DLC, entitled Synethesia, which will offer a completely new take on the Time Trial mode, as it won't feature various parts of the city where the action in the game takes place, but a completely new world, envisioned by the main character, Faith, in her dreams. It will offer a new challenge to players, who will now be able to jump and navigate a course filled with geometrical shapes above and endless sea.

Until next month, all the other Mirror's Edge owners will still need to settle for the original Time Trial maps and the adventures from the story mode. For those who are still undecided about buying this game, you can find our review here.
