Last year's holiday season saw the release of some high-quality games. Sadly, a lot of them were sequels to already existing franchises, which made people buy them because they were sure of what they were getting for their hard earned money. This made the new games released at that time, like Dead Space or Mirror's Edge, less attractive and prevented them from registering the same big sales.

A lot of analysts believed that if Electronic Arts had launched Mirror's Edge at a later time, when the competition wouldn't have been so serious, then the game might have sold much better. For those of you who don't know, Mirror's Edge puts players in the running shoes of a young woman named Faith, and is placed in a futuristic dystopia where everything is controlled by a totalitarian government. As such, the only safe place to be is on the rooftops of buildings, where runners, or messengers, like Faith try to deliver their precious cargo.

Now it seems that Electronic Arts still wants to make a profit with the innovative free-running game, as it has announced that the Mirror's Edge DLC (Downloadable Content) pack, consisting of seven completely new time trial maps, will be made available on January 29. The pack, which was announced along with the release of the PC version of Mirror's Edge, will be worth 10 dollars or 800 Microsoft Points and will be available across all the platforms that the game was launched for.

The pack will give players the chance to compete in nine different time trial challenges across seven new maps, with the fastest times being posted on the online leaderboards, which can be checked by any player of the game. This will undoubtedly make gamers more interested in the title, as the singleplayer mode offers a relatively short experience, of around 6 hours, which is why the time trial mode is receiving this major update.

Let's hope that the launch of the DLC will go as smoothly as possible and that players will once again be able to experience the parkour-like gameplay with Faith.
