Miranda Lambert, one of the hottest country singers on the scene right now, is about 20 pounds (9.07 kg) lighter than she was a couple of years ago, thanks to a healthy combination of exercise and portion control.

In recent months, she’s got a lot of media attention for the weight loss, which sadly also included a rumor that she had developed an eating disorder or that she had grown so unhappy with her body that she had stomach surgery to make sure she shifted the extra weight.

Obviously, neither rumor was true: Amanda lost the weight because she decided she wanted to start leading a healthier life now that she’d turned 30 – and she set to get her idea of a perfect body for her.

New figure, newfound confidence

Miranda is the covergirl of the latest issue of Marie Claire and she’s also featured in a gorgeous, summer-themed pictorial inside the pages of the magazine. In between chatting about her still heavy drinking, her marriage to country hottie Blake Shelton, and her amazing career so far, Miranda also gets real about her weight loss.

She always had and will always have some confidence issues, she admits, who doesn’t? However, now that she’s in a much better physical shape, she’s happy to be walking in front of thousands of people and not have her “[stuff] jiggling” anymore.

“I’m just like anybody else, insecure and scared of looking bad or being criticized. But everybody’s making this big, giant thing about it. It’s way too much focus on women’s bikini photos, and I hate it. Why do we care? I want women to love themselves whatever they’ve got going on,” Miranda continues.

It’s refreshing to see a celebrity as big as this country singer divert attention and praise from herself to a much more important topic, namely the kind of scrutiny women (and not just celebrities either) are getting for their bikini bodies.

Miranda lost the weight because she wanted to and she made sure she did it the healthy way, which means she has the guarantee that results will last the test of time. She remains baffled that people made it into such a big thing, when she wasn’t trying to send some message or make a stand, she just wanted to feel good in her own skin.

Healthier, more confident, but also prone to mild exaggeration

Miranda is slimmer now, there’s no denying that, and if she feels at her most confident and healthiest, then all the power to her. Nonetheless, it seems that the weight loss has also made her more prone to exaggeration because her comment about how parts of her were “jiggling” before is simply not true.

In the gallery below, you will find the latest Marie Claire photos: Photoshop aside, they look amazing, and indeed, Miranda does seem to exude newfound confidence. Also in the gallery, we have included “before” photos of the singer, so that you can see for yourself that there was no jiggling going on.

It’s true, in a landscape of stick-thin pop stars and actresses, Miranda was curvier than most. But she wasn’t as fat as she’s trying to make it sound.
