The massive diet spam campaign that started on Twitter is far from being addressed. Currently, spam messages designed to lure users to bogus miracle diet websites are also making the rounds on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.

While the social media websites (more or less) try to address the problems, the spammers are coming up with new tricks.

Security researcher Janne Ahlberg has found that some of the tweets advertising the miracle diet point to a Game Informer member blog.

The scammers have created a blog and posted an article called “Garcinia Cambogia for Weight Loss| Imagine a diet system that burns far within weeks.”

By posting their shady articles on such trusted websites, they increase their chances of success.

I’ve reached out to Game Informer hoping to find out if they’re aware that spammers are abusing their services. This post will be updated if they respond.

In the meantime, Ahlberg says that Twitter appears to be trying to stop the campaign. On the other hand, the number of spam pins on Pinterest is increasing and the social media company doesn’t seem to be doing much about it.
