Mira is a posh accessory that will appeal to ladies

Ever since I can remember I’ve had a crush on the name Mira. For some reason, its subtle letter arrangement (which also signifies “look” in Spanish) conjures up images of serenity and an acceptant peace every human being is probably striving to encounter in this lifetime.

So you’ll probably understand my delight when I stumbled upon a smart bracelet called just that – Mira. The device aims to be one of those new and hip stylish fitness-centric bracelets that want to pass more as jewelry than another drab piece of technology.

Mira is not only good-looking but also quite caring

Albeit being a fitness tracker at its core, Mira does bring a feature that so far seems to be exclusively unique to it. Like most wearables on the market today, Mira will connect to your mobile device through an app, which in turn will deliver “Boost” suggestions.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, but Mira brings a mother’s touch into the picture, as suggestions are delivered in a personal, encouraging way that the creators of the bracelet hope will motivate you to stand by your fitness goals.

Some wearables aren’t all that nurturing like Mira. Remember the Pavlok? This fitness tracker took a nastier approach in order to “convincie” you to keep true to your goals, by literary applying electric shocks when you failed to comply.

Mira can be attached to clothing or worn around the wrist

You can wear Mira in different ways. For example, a part of the tracker portion can be clipped to pieces of clothing or put in a pocket. Naturally, you get a bracelet part too, for wearing the tracker on your wrist. The bracelet is offered in brushed gold and midnight purple.

Mira picks up fitness information like steps taken, calories intake, and other dietary info that users will have to input themselves. For the time being, we’re not given any info about battery life, so we can’t say how long before Mira needs to pop in for a charge.

Mira is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, but if the wearable becomes available you’ll be able to choose from three different sizes, including 2 inches, 2.2 inches, and 2.5 inches. If you like what you see, you can go ahead and make a pledge of $149 / €121 that will get you a bracelet and a charger. Once Mira is out into the wild, it will cost you $169 / €137.
