It appears that Mio is trying to surpass Garmin, one of the most lucrative makers of GPS devices, from the ones that do it all to the specialized devices, informs Mobile Whack.
Therefore, Mio Technology's latest multifunctional navigational device can be used as an entertainment unit, as it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, multiple entertainment options and, of course, a GPS navigation feature. The player supports several formats, including DivX, JPEG and MP3 and the device has 2 GB of flash ROM which includes maps of both the US and Canada.
Similar to Garmin's devices, this one is able to hook to any Bluetooth compatible cell phone, almost all them, for a hands-free communication, as it can also store any given digital information from videos and music to images.
The Mio DigiWalker C710 is also capable of providing real-time traffic updates and can access more than 5 million points of interest.
But if you are a cell phone owner, and you probably 'subscribe' to this category, you can also choose Garmin's latest Mobile service which brings to your display a full range of content from fuel prices, weather conditions and forecasts, traffic information, maps and directions.
The real-time traffic capability identifies accidents, road construction, or other incidents affecting traffic, and the severity of the delay - low, medium, or high impact - is also displayed. Furthermore, Garmin Mobile automatically calculates a route that navigates around traffic and construction delays. Traffic information is provided by Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network.
