A new, in-box Apple Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh is being sold on eBay in one large box, with four smaller boxes inside, containing the accessories, including the keyboard, and subwoofer.

Seller thegoofs admits that it is not uncommon to see parts of a used TAM up for sale via eBay and the likes, but “rarely is [there] a complete system with all original accessories and packaging, and a new sealed system,” he writes.

In fact, he entices potential bidders by noting that a system in such good shape shipping with all its bundled accessories is “unheard of.”

At the time of this writing, the current bid was US $860.00.

Indeed, this is the first time we’ve heard of anyone selling one of the rare Twentieth Anniversary Macs in such a complete package.

As the seller himself points out, Apple crafted a very limited number of these computers which the company introduced in the spring of 1997 for $7,499.

Perhaps it is also worth noting that Apple’s Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh is Jony Ive’s first major project for Apple.

Ive is a legend in the design industry, and one of Apple’s most valuable assets.

According to its seller, the system packs a 250 MHz PowerPC 603e processor and 12.1" active matrix LCD powered by an ATI 3D Rage II video chipset with 2MB of VRAM capable of displaying up to 16bit color at 800x600 or 640x480 pixels.

The list of technical specifications continues with the vertically mounted 4x SCSI CD-ROM and Apple floppy Superdrives, a 2GB ATA hard drive, a TV/FM tuner, an S-Video card, and the high-quality sound system.

Seller thegoofs says he opened the accessory box to inspect the condition of the batteries “out of concern that the corrosion of them over time could have damaged other components.”

“The batteries did in fact expand but did not leak,” he notes, confirming that no damage had been done to the rest of the parts.

“The accessories themselves are all new, otherwise untouched, including the thick users manual which is still shrink-wrapped, and a special TAM pen and pencil set which come in a special Apple embossed leather case,” he adds.

The sound system is sealed tight, therefore should be in tip top condition as well.

“…but because testing was not performed this system is being sold in as-is condition,” hegoofs warns.

No doubt the person who eventually gets the computer into their possession will know who to contact for servicing.

The unit is located in Keller, Texas. Shipping will add around $450 to the bill, the seller says.
