FreeNAS, a free implementation of a minimal FreeBSD distribution, has finally reached version 9.2.1.5, and the developer has included a large number of improvements.

FreeNAS 9.2.1.5 is somewhat of a surprise build, and the developers chose to release this version instead of a more fragmented one called 9.2.1.4.1.

“You remember the ending of the movie ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ where Dorothy woke up and it was all just a dream? </spoiler-alert>”

“Well, that’s exactly the case with FreeNAS 9.2.1.4.1. It apparently never happened, we all just dreamed that it did. Haha! You all didn't really think we’d release something with so many numbers, or with more bugs than 9.2.1.3, right? Right. Just a bad dream. So anyway, now that we’re all awake again, we’d just like to point out that the release fairies appear to have done a 9.2.1.5-RELEASE during the night” said the developer in the official announcement.

According to the changelog, LDAP now requires TLS, Samba now shows as started when it’s configured as a domain controller, Solarflare driver no longer trips an assert when LACP is used, and more

A complete list of changes, updates, and new features can be found in the official announcement. Download FreeNAS 9.2.1.5 right now from the website.
