Hours after news broke out that a Russian company was advertising the latest Mac clones, Softpedia learned that RussianMac was already shipping the units, claiming no conflict with Apple's End User License Agreement for Mac OS X.

According to electronista, RussianMac's line of Mac clones includes the MiniBook netbook, multimedia and home theater servers, a standard PRO computer with iMac specs and a Mac Pro figure, a compact Mini and a 15-inch Book notebook. The company has begun to ship the computers with OS X pre-installed. RussianMac strongly believes it does not violate the Mac OS X EULA, and may be confident that it will avoid legal action as long as its business stays in Russia, the report outlines.

Germany's own Mac cloner, HyperMegaNet (selling the PearC line of computers) is also using state legislature to by-pass Apple's EULA. German law forbids companies to impose restrictions after a product has been sold, according to the electronista report.

Admittedly, the MiniBook (pictured above) is quite an attractive product, but really just a Hackintosh made by professionals. The device comes in white and black, and pretty much fills the gap left by Apple in its line of portable computers – the netbook.

However, RussianMac pinpoints the disadvantages of home-made Hackintoshes, compared with its clones. The list of negative aspects surrounding Hackintoshes follows as such (translated from Russian):

Disadvantages:

– There is no guarantee that the Mac OS X will run on your configuration. – The installation process is very complex and will require your knowledge of advanced user. – Many hours or days looking for drivers and patches. – Unstable Mac OS X – the various possible failures, and broken components. – Inability to install updates from the server, Apple (the installation will cause the collapse of the system).

As for its own systems, “The computer is ready to guarantee the work of Mac OSX,” RussianMac states. The company lists advantages including a complete analogue of Mac; the Mac OS X guarantee; savings in price by 2-3 times; a wide range of models, suitable for everyone's needs.

As noted yesterday, RussianMac chooses not to avoid including the “Mac” brand in its company's title, and even goes to disclose various in-depth details about its computers. “Computers are adapted to work with Mac OS X. All the software works flawlessly including the built in update utility,” RussianMac courageously stresses.
